Together with media artist Daniel Hengst, artist and choreographer Barbara Schmidt-Rohr explores the role of new technologies in scenic art. FUTURE DREAMS is a media installation that shows atmospheric, large-format video portraits of many children. The code programmed for this work calculates according to the principles of facial recognition programs and sorts the editing sequences of the videos. This creates a technical narrative based on algorithms, similar to the one produced daily by the image orders in social media
Barbara Schmidt-Rohr is a freelance artist, curator, choreographer, and dramaturge. She has been working as a curator and dramaturge in numerous collaborations since the 1990s. In her work, she realizes projects at the interfaces of choreography, scenic installation, and the digital with changing partners and teams. She also works with children as performers.
